Bay Ridges is a smaller community or larger Pickering. Bay Ridges is bordered on the west by the water of Frenchman’s Bay. On the south by Waterfront Trail, Montgomery Park Rd and Lake Ontario, the east just past Sandy Beach Rd with the hydro corridor. The northmost border is Hwy 401. Bay Ridges was formerly known as Fairport.
Bay Ridges can be accessed with Bayly St through Liverpool Rd coming from Hwy 401. Liverpool Rd is also the main road running through Bay Ridges. Millennium Square and Beachfront Park are known as popular gathering points along with Frenchman’s Bay Marina. Bay Ridges also has many parks such as Douglas Park, Balsdon Park and Alex Robertson Park. Places of worship include the Peace Lutheran Church, St Martins Ctr and St Martin’s Anglican Church. All located in the northwest corner of Bay Ridges.
Bayview Heights Public School, Sir J.A. MacDonald Public School and Durham Alternative Secondary School – Pickering are some of the schools. Senior citizens can stay entertained at South Pickering Senior Citizens Club and can call home at Revera Bay Ridges Long Term Care Home.
